When most people think of a wedding, the things that
they think about are the bride and groom, of course,
the wedding party, the flowers and the wedding
reception.
But there is a lot more to a wedding than that, and
this is how others can be involved if the wedding
party has been filled.
Guest Book Attendant
- This is one of the jobs that can be offered to a
friend who wasn’t included in the wedding party but
still wants to help. This person will encourage the
guests to sign the book and leave a message for the
couple if they wish. It may seem like a small job, but
it’s important.
Bird Seed Bag Attendants
- Another job that is available to friends of the
bride and groom is to give everyone bags of bird seed
after the ceremony. This can be done by one or two
people, depending on how many people are attending the
wedding.
Scripture readings
- If the bride and groom are having a ceremony that
includes a lot of scripture readings, this is another
nice touch to the ceremony, and can make your friends
feel like a special part of your day.
Car decorating
- This can be a perfect job for a couple of guys who
aren’t ushers. They can go out to the bridal car and
decorate it for the drive to where the reception is
being held.
This is also a job that can be done by some of the
ushers, who don’t want to stand around for the
receiving line.

Although there are a multitude of destinations considered kid-friendly, here are the top 5 you may want to consider on your next family vacation.
1. Disney World. This ultimate family vacation has been the source of great joy for adults and kids alike. Whether you stay several miles from the theme park or enjoy the onsite amenities, this vacation affords you an endless array of activities designed for the entire family. From Epcot Center to Sea World; from Disney Village to Universal Studios; Water parks to Wildlife parks; no time is wasted at this world-famous resort. We’ll be there this week!
Moreover, many online travel sites are offering special packages to Disney World as well as Southwest Airlines and others. In addition, you can save quite a bit of money by selecting hotels that offer free stays for children, as well as free meals for the little ones. This is one destination where you can easily book a trip based on your budget and stick to it.
2. Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch. From Alaska to Wyoming, there are a multitude of dude ranches perfect for a family vacation. But, one of the most notable is the Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch in Colorado, approximately 20 miles from Rock Mountain National Park. Here, your family can engage in an array of activities including: horseback riding, hayrides, nature walks, and a host of amenities provided by the ranch.
This dude ranch is perfect for families who love the outdoors as well as enjoy visiting such historic sites as Fort Collins, Old West Museums, and Cheyenne (where you can buy tickets to the world’s largest rodeo held from July 17 to the 26th).
3. Hawaii. While Oahu has always been a popular destination, it is Maui that attracts family vacationers more than any of its islands. The reason is that it offers a wide variety of activities such as whale watching (seasonal); Lahaina, a famous whaling village; and Maui Ocean Center, home to the largest aquarium in Hawaii.
Your family can also take a ride on the Sugar Cane Train, circa 1890; visit Oheo Gulch to marvel at the spectacular waterfalls; spend a day at Iao Valley and view the Iao Needle; or visit the black-sand beaches at Waianapanapa in East Maui.
For fabulous weather, magnificent sunsets, and beautiful beaches; Maui is the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy spending quality family time.
4. New York. Probably the most exciting vacation spot for families is New York – my hometown! The “Big Apple” has something for everyone; from Broadway to Rockefeller Center, you will never run out of things to do here. Among the many sites to visit is Radio City Music Hall where you can take in a show; Madison Square Garden; the Empire State Building; the Village; 42nd Street, the Theatre District; museums; shopping, fabulous cuisine; the list truly is endless.
Spend a day walking along Fifth Avenue and stop at St. Patrick’s Cathedral; take a tour of NBC Studios; spend an afternoon in Central Park and visit the zoo there; go to the South Street Seaport or take in a matinee performance on a Wednesday afternoon.
Whether you stay uptown or downtown, you will always be in close proximity to the many historic sites and sounds that comprise Manhattan. Moreover, your kids will enjoy all this city has to offer.
5. Las Vegas. The city that never sleeps offers a wide range of attractions for kids. This is why it is among the top family destinations in the US today. Moreover, it is an affordable vacation because the hotel packages and meals will fit any budget.
Among the many attractions offered for families include: M&M’s World, the Lion Habitat at MGM, Adventure Canyon, Game Works (a video game-playing wonderland), Sports Park, Circus Circus rides; Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage hotel; Shark Reef; New York, New York’s roller coaster; Madame Tussaud’s; Lake Mead; Children’s Museum (the largest of its kind); and Adventuresdome, the largest theme park in the U.S. Many of these attractions are free and are well worth visiting. Don’t forget the Flamingo Habitat at the Flamingo hotel or the spectacular water fountain show across the way at Caesars Palace. For great fun and awesome rides and venues, Las Vegas is a wonderful choice for your next family vacation.

One of the biggest focal points of a wedding reception is the beautiful wedding cake. That towering, flowering, blinding beautiful wedding cake with the two people standing on top, that the bride and groom cut and then feed to one another.
Although a lot of brides and grooms go with the traditional pound cake taste, it doesn’t have to be that way.
Flavor -
If you don’t go with the traditional pound cake taste for all of your layers, keep in mind that not everyone is going to like lemon or raspberry, or any other exotic flavors.
One popular alternative is chocolate chip cake. Another idea is to go with alternating chocolate and vanilla.
The top of your cake is traditionally saved and eaten on your first wedding anniversary. So choose the flavor that both of you will enjoy and make that your wedding topper.
Although a lot of cakes are purchased in a traditional bakery, there are a lot of supermarkets that make delicious cakes that aren’t as expensive.!
If you are working on a budget, shop around for prices on wedding cakes and be sure to sample them. You may be surprised at what supermarkets can do.
If you have someone that has taken a cake decorating class and makes great cakes, you may find that they will do it as a wedding present and it will save you some money.
A wedding cake doesn’t have to be expensive to be delicious, and you can find plenty of money saving ideas when looking for your wedding cake.

Ever notice how when people give you a list of reason to hire a Virtual Assistant they are typically all the same; back office management, transcribing, RE assistance, cost savings, etc. We admit it, we also have a pretty typical list of reasons ourselves. But what about all the non-traditional reason to hire a VA? Last night it came to me that we always tell our clients that if they don’t see what they need on our list of services that they should email us. Giving a corporate gift is never easy, especially since a lot of the time you don’t really have a personal relationship with a colleague. So here are some of my tips to help you along in the process.
1. Make Sure You Know the Gift Policy!
If you are not the business owner, make sure you know your company’s policy and the recipient’s company policy on gift giving. A lot of companies, especially if they are or works with government (city, state or federal) have policies on how much you can spend on a gift as well as the value of a gift you are allowed to receive; sometimes even the type. For example, government offices usually do not allow cash gifts. This typically means no gift card either – even if it is just Starbucks! So make sure you know the policy before choosing what to give or what you or your recipient can accept.
2. Look and Listen for hints
This is the number one piece of advice that I give to anyone, even if it is not a corporate gift. Notice if someone wears a certain color more often then not, do they wear certain accessories all the time (IE: a broach or a tie clip), listen during conversations or meeting for things the person may enjoy doing (IE; eating at a certain restaurant, playing golf, gardening). These are just some examples. When you look for the clues you will be amazed how easy it is to get just the right gift.
3. Try to get something that the person would not get for themselves
I know, this is sometimes easier said than done. Sometimes it is just a matter of a change of color or a trinket. One time I worked for someone on a particularly large project. It lasted for a few weeks and I definitely did some overtime on making sure the project was done right and on time. As a reward the person bought me a handbag. Now I know what you are thinking, “what is the big deal about a handbag?” Well, the handbag was a beautiful aqua blue color. Even though I would have never purchased that for myself I loved it! I use it all the time to this day and it was still a practical gift. It was that simple to get a completely appropriate gift and still put a personalized spin to it.
4. Make sure you like it
This is by far the simplest rule. If you don’t like what you are giving as a gift, odds are the person you are giving it to will not like it either. This isn’t always the case but it a good rule of thumb.
5. Think outside the box
It is really easy to get the typical office gift – a pen, a paperweight and golf balls. When you think outside the box your gift becomes more memorable, which in turn makes doing business with you more memorable. You can still stay within the realm of regular gifts and be original as well.
6. Personalize
A personalized gift shows that you took special time out to get a gift particularly for that person. Personalizing is very popular now also so you can get a personalized gift and not break the bank.
7. BUY a present
A lot of businesses often give promotional items or items that the company makes or manufactures as a gift. This is not a terrible idea but if you are giving a gift to show gratitude or for a special occasion it would be better to purchase a gift. You don’t have to spend a fortune but take the time to purchase something that shows you appreciate what that person does for you.
8. Think Considerate
Sometimes thinking considerate helps in your decision of what to get as a gift. Did someone just have a baby? Maid service for a day would probably be appreciated. Did someone just get home from the hospital or have a death in the family? Food is always a good gift – like prepared meals for a week (there are services that do this). Did someone just relocate to a new office in a new town? Send them something from their home town. Gifts like these are always greatly appreciated and you will be a big hit!
